Amanda Knox Appeal: Dear Ms Panettiere, The Truth Is Already Known

It seems the only news of late on the Amanda Knox appeal is the opinions of Hayden Panettiere regarding  the the murder of Meredith Kercher.  Although she has stated that she has not come to a decision as to the guilt or innocence of Amanda Knox, she has also stated that "the truth may never be known". With all due respect to Ms Panettiere- the truth is already known by a great many people as to the innocence of Amanda Knox. This complex case demands a good deal of time in order to form an accurate/informed opinion. Mere discussion on the movie set with fellow actors is not going to produce much in the way of forming an opinion as to guilt or innocence. Nor are newspaper articles of much value since many of the early reports are flawed with misinformation.

This case hinges on flawed forensics as put forth by the prosecution. Until one studies the forensics in this case one can not possibly come up with an informed opinion. Now Ms Panettiere does state that she has no opinion as to Amanda's guilt but I think where she is completely wrong is her statement that "the truth may never be known". This case is complex, but it is not a profound mystery- as some seem to think. Once the DNA is re-evaluated by the new experts in Rome- Once the testimony of certain prosecution witnesses are discredited- Then I think this case will become less of a mystery, and the guilty verdicts of the original trial court will be revealed as a  huge mistake.

I am sure Ms Panettiere was just stating her opinion in an honest way as an actress whose role of Amanda Knox in the Lifetime movie gave her a natural curiosity about the innocence or guilt of the character. Yet the truth will be known. The mystery will be solved. The truth will prevail. And an injustice of huge proportions will be corrected. This appeal court will dig out the truth for all to see, but to many people already in the know on this case, who have studied the forensics, and have seen through the misinformation- the truth is already known.

Hayden Panettiere is playing it safe. She's saying only politically correct stuff. All about money. How the heck can she play a role that is so ill-defined?

Hayden's tattoo says "No Regrets" but the tattoo is spelled wrong. Maybe she's the perfect actress to imitate Amanda Knox.

I don't see how this tv show will be at all informative, given that the actress herself doesn't have a handle on what really happened. I doubt I will even bother to watch this tv show.

I think Ms Panettiere was just doing what the studio told her to do.. stay neutral .. dont drive off potential viewers of either side by taking sides...

Hello Jake- I am sure she was just doing what was suggested for the sake of the movie- to stay on the fence. My only purpose for this post was to counter her "the truth may never be known" statement. This case is not some unsolved mystery as I think the appeals will prove. The post was nothing against Ms. Panettiere. I only wanted to address her one statement. Thanks for commenting.

What is troubling to me is that the director, Robert Dorheim, has been telling European audiences that there is strong evidence Amanda is guilty. He has told other audiences that she deserves the time she has spent imprisoned because she accused Patrick. This shows appalling bias and ignorance. In the end it doesn't matter what Hayden Panettiere thinks. She doesn't have creative control.

Hello Vaccarro- well that certainly not good news. There maybe a post coming soon on what Dorheim is spreading about. Thanks for commenting.

Just to throw something out.

The cast, directors, production people and producers at Lifetime all ended up looking into this case carefully trying to figure out what happened. They according the Hayden all rejected the prosecution's view was proved beyond a reasonable doubt and "don't know what happened". For all practical purposes Amanda has been tried by a jury of her peers and found not guilty.

You can find the interview with director Robert Dornhelm in www.injusticeinperugia.org/Forum.html in the General discussion thread, topic: "2 Movies on Amanda Knox - 1 by a diredtor favoring violent themes" (last post 5th Dec 2010). My post is from Tue Sep 28, 2010 5:17pm including a link to the article and an attempt of a translation.

Wow. A drunken monkey with two weeks police experience could see that Amanda and her boyfriend had nothing to do with this.

I saw the film and Hayden played her as a normal college girl. I think she knows Amanda is innocent, but the legal team advised her not to publicly say so, otherwise the movie would be seen as biased. What I didn't like was the way the movie portrayed Rafaelle calling the cops after the postal police arrived and immediately saying Amanda left in the interrogation room. There is real reason to believe it did not happen that way.

When evidents suck as DNA is omitted from the origional trial you have to ask yourself why.

i believe that the actress was playing it safe also.. but I personally believe that amanda knox is INNOCENT!! or even if she possibly did it...(which I dont believe).. there is not enough evidence to convict her... their legal system seems more screwed up than ours
