Amanda Knox Appeal: Release Is Just A Matter Of Time

The appeal of Amanda Knox is moving forward- slowly. There have been delays due to a slow release of documents held by the police/prosecution. The DNA experts appointed by the appeals court had to get the court to help them by asking for a 40 day extension on the deadline as certain information was never provided to them. On May 21, the court granted the extension and ordered the prosecution to hand over the missing documents to the DNA experts. It's just 'one more thing' in a slowly moving appeal which most people assumed would be over by the summer, but now looks like it will continue into the Fall. Hopefully, it will not take that long.

It is not the fault of the court or judges but rather the prosecution seems to be dragging it's feet by not turning over certain information in a timely manner- I wonder why. Also it must be remembered that the appeals court has chosen to go over a great deal of information and re-examine witnesses. This is of course all in Amanda's favor and is actually necessary in order to prove that there is no reliable evidence that supports a guilty verdict.

All of this is time consuming but necessary in order to prove to all that the conviction of Amanda Knox for the murder of her British room-mate was a mistake- a crass and costly mistake. What flimsy 'evidence' the prosecution had put forth at the original trial is quickly being exposed at the appeal for what it is- ridiculous. The 'eye-witness' pegging Amanda near the murder site and who was believed by the judge and jury at the original trial has now been properly exposed as a confused, heroin addicted, criminal, who could not even get his facts straight and was just about laughed out of court. The so-called DNA evidence against Knox will likewise take a fall when the court appointed experts turn in their report by the end of June. Simply put, the prosecution's case against Amanda Knox is crumbling fast, and it really is just a matter of time before she wins her appeal and is released.

Hopefully, Amanda will not have to spend another sweltering summer in Capanne prison waiting for her appeal to end. But even if she does spend this summer waiting, you can be sure it will be her last, before leaving Italy a free person.

Thank you for your always insightful posts, St. Michael. I must say that I am very distressed by Amanda's & Raffaele's prolonged incarceration. They were denied bail when first arrested which was against their presumption of innocence. I believe some arrangements should be made now to allow them the freedom to work on their appeal with their lawyers.

what a travesty of corruption and insanity. Bring her home.

Sorry to say but something is fishy here, and I don't just mean with the prosecution. I do not believe Knox nor Sollecito were the ones that killed Kercher, but, however, I do believe they assisted Guede in Kercher's murder and tried to cover it up. Let's not all forget what is important here, bringing the murderer(s) of Meredith Kercher to justice. So why would Knox admit being at her house when Kercher was killed and that Lumumba killed Kercher if it was in fact false? I'm sorry but even after hours on end of being questioned no innocent person would confess to this. She was trying to cover up what really happened that night. Just something to think about..

To Concerned- Most people who have studied this case agree that Knox could not have been in the murder room without leaving some evidence. Zero evidence was found of Amanda being in the murder room. This aside for the moment- What you are saying is not really logical. False confessions are done all the time in every country in the world. I personally believe Amanda was simply trying to make them stop. No one except Amanda and the police know what she really said and oddly there is no tape of Amanda's ordeal as was required by law. You can believe what you like but as far as I am concerned what you believe doesn't make sense. Amanda is completely innocent of any wrong doing in this case as is Raffaele. If you are really concerned you should study this case in depth and then you will realize that Amanda had nothing to do with the murder of her room-mate.

To Patrick King- I certainly agree with you. I think the court should grant Amanda some kind of house arrest rather than continue in prison. The idea that she would take off back to the U S. I don't think is a good argument since she is high profile and how would she get out of Italy without a passport- particularly if she was being monitored. I don't think she should spend another long hot summer in prison. She's been through more than enough on this nonsense. Thanks for your comment.

I have read in depth about this case and also have been following it since the beginning. It is obvious that Knox was not in the room since no DNA was found, but as I said before I do believe she assisted in covering it up. Her actions at the police station were not one of an innocent person who just found out her friend died (doing cartwheels, making out with RS, etc). Not trying to start an argument, just stating some things for people to think about. Unfortunately it is not up to us to decide their guilt or innocence. We will have to wait to see what the Italian court decides.

To Concerned- Again- I think you have opinions that do not hold up to reality. What would be the motive for Amanda & Raffaele to cover up something they were not involved with- and that is the key word 'motive'. Even the prosecutor couldn't come up with a motive that made any sense. When the appeal is over Amanda will be found not guilty. I think a lot of people who assumed she was guilty in the beginning but now have to change their mind due to the prosecution's case falling apart, still can't seem to understand that she is completely innocent with no motive and no evidence against her. Period!

do your homework and/or don't go around planting negative ideas that are old and worn out and just plain LIES. ALL OF IT has been debunked and exposed. DO YOUR HOMEWORK!

I LOVE your blog. I am grateful that people like you HAVE done your homework. :)
The Prosecution has just made the most stupid mistake yet. Yay for us. This would make the best movie focusing on Giuliano Mignini and their crooked court! Yes yes yesssss!

Thank you Michelle- I think Monday will be a very interesting day in the appeal. I really do not know what the prosecution was thinking by having Guede testify. I do not for a second believe the prosecution buys their own case- At this point I think they are just winging-it. This may be the final nail in the coffin for the prosecution and for Guede. We'll all know more Monday than we do now. Thanks for the comment.

They're being investigated because the courts believe it WAS framed now. That is why the few extra weeks in prison for them. That's why Amanda said, "Thank you" to the judge.
The reason the prosecution did this is because THEIR stupid. It's amazing for us.
Because of the investigating these kids will be truly exonerated now. Plus, don't be surprised if Amanda offers to do a polygraph when she returns. They wouldn't allow her to because they knew she was innocent. The Italian's are changing and they are gonna nail this bogus court and mainly this bogus Prosecutor for who they are. I'm nothing but encouraged. :)

Michelle- Very true, everything seems to have flipped around now with this present appeals court led by Judge Hellmann right on the beam. It's my personal opinion is that Judge Hellmann didn't like the smell of this case from the beginning- That's why he just about started from scratch. The original trial court was unbelievably gullible- That court, the motivation report, and of course Mignini, are all going away like a bad dream. Unfortunately, Amanda is doing a hell of a stretch in prison waiting for all of this to work itself out, but she has to know that it won't be long now. Let's hope tomorrow finishes off the prosecution for good. Thanks for the input Michelle.

The one point most people want to hang onto to prove that Amanda was guilty is the fact that supposedly "her story to the police changed." Amanda was taken from her home and question for 13 hours. She was beaten (Yes, I do believe she was beaten), screamed at, threatened. I imagine she wasn't allowed to use the bathroom or given anything to eat. 13 hours. How long do you think you could last during 13 hours of this? Maybe she changed her story to try to satisfy the police so they would stop beating, sreaming, and threatening her? Amanda is innocent. When she returns to the U.S. a free woman, I hope she sues Peruga, Italy for everything it is worth.

Hello Jane- Much of what the anti-Amanda faction believes is based on things that the prosecution and police have said. Exactly what happened during police questioning that night we will never know for an absolute fact as it was not recorded in breech of Italian law. However I personally believe she was given a very rough time. She never said she was beaten but that she was given a couple cuffs on the back of the head- and I do believe that is true, along with name calling and threats. At this point she just wants to get the hell out of there. What she does later about it is up to her. Getting her out of there is the concern right now and I am hoping that she can be placed under 'house arrest' or something of that nature instead of spending another summer in Capanne prison. I understand it gets over 100 degrees F. in those cells. That is what I would like to see at this point is for her to wait for the outcome of the appeal outside the prison. Thanks for the input.

to concern, doing cartwheels in the police station makes you think she had something to do with it? I understand what you are trying to say but just cause she was doing that does not make her look like she had something to do with it, watching the movie i learned that amanda did have a weird personality but she also seemed sweet, and as far as any type of evidence they had none as far as dna non but regaurdless if they found anything or not she was the girls roommate so of course their going to find some sort of amandas dna in the house...my point is I know this poor girl is innoccent no guilty person is going to fight this hard to prove their innocents, she may have been a roommate with this girl but that dont mean she needed to cry every second, maybe she acted that way at the police station because she was trying to not think about her friends death so she didnt have to feel pain for her loss also amanda is the victim here to not just the girl who died, amanda has suffered from minipulation, abuse, and many years of her life wasted in a sht hole for something she didnt do, and she has also lost a friend in which she never got to say good bye to....i hope for her release soon god bless u amanda knox
